Winter Fashion Love

Many people believe that winter and fashion simply don't go together.  However, as a life-long resident of the midwest I have to politely disagree.  Winter fashion is certainly different than summer but it is full of opportunities for self-expression and personal style.  My personal favorite aspects of winter fashion are coats and the requisite panoply of winter accessories.  For me this includes, mittens, gloves, headbands, scarves, hats, earmuffs and boots.
Some people go through winter with one or two coats they wear constantly.  This sort of blows my mind.  I have about a dozen winter coats that I rotate, an equal number of scarves, and more gloves, mittens, and headwear.  Let's look at this mathematically shall we? 12 coats x 10 scarves x 15 mittens/gloves x 20 hats, headbands, earmuffs = a mindblowing 36,000 possible combos!  Now obviously not every piece can go with every other but that still leaves plenty of room to mix and match.  Here is what I'm wearing today:
J. Crew
Abercrombie & Fitch purchased in high school don't judge it's still cute
little hearts!  Gift from St. Nick
And a tan and white striped scarf printed with a few small pink hearts purchased when I lived in Chicago.  I couldn't find a picture.  At other times I'll pair the mittens with a bright pink puffy vest and pink cashmere scarf.  Or the earmuffs with navy and tan leather Moschino gloves I adore.  My point is, think outside of the box when it comes to winter accessories.  Hats, mittens and scarves are an inexpensive way to change up an outfit.  As far as inexpensive winter options, I also LOVE buying coats at thrift stores.  Some of my favorite coats came from thrift stores and were purchased for a song.  I have a darling black mongolian lamb coat with a silver mink collar I bought for $25 at Goodwill and another blue and purpley tweed coat that I wear all the time and always garner compliments for.  At the urging of Linds I recently purchased this J. Crew pea coat at the outlet and have already worn it a lot.  I wasn't sure about the color but I actually really like it.
New pea coat, surprisingly wearable

How do you stay warm and stylish?  Do you like my new pea coat?  Thoughts on boots?
