Project Love + Odds and Ends

Happy Friday friends!  I hope everyone is having a lovely day!  As I mentioned here, last weekend we celebrated Jeremy's birthday.  After dinner, we were enjoying a cocktail at the very charming Bayside Tavern in Fish Creek.  I noticed that the cocktail napkins had a lovely illustration of a sailboat.
Jeremy has a keen appreciation for design which is chronicled on his awesome blog, Wanderlust.  I suggested we all sign the napkin for Jeremy as a souvenir of the night.  I then took the napkin and framed it.  Here's how it turned out:
birthday memento for Jeremy
The frame is from Hobby Lobby (sorry J, it's not a custom job) but I think it looks really nice.  I think this is kind of an easy and unique way to create a memento of a special night.  In fact, I may do this again.
I'm looking forward to a low-key weekend at home.  Tonight I'm running and hanging out with my BFF, tomorrow 9:00 strength class then getting Thai food and watching season two of Girls with Alexa.  I also may go cross country skiing with my mother.  I haven't gone since I was little but I think it could be fun.  Also groceries which is my favorite household task.
Now for some old business; I mentioned here that I was making White Chicken Lasagna for dinner Wednesday.  It was good but not outstanding.  I think I had unfairly high expectations.  To me, Cook's Illustrated Vegetarian Lasagna is the ne plus ultra in lasagna.  It is the most delicious lasagna ever and well worth the admittedly extensive labor involved.  The recipe I linked to is the correct recipe although it's not on the CI site.  You have to subscribe to CI to view their recipe which you should definitely do because it's awesome.  Last night I had dinner at SALT with our old neighbors.  They are wonderful and dinner was delicious.  If you haven't been there yet please go and order the beet salad and something with grits, either the chicken waffle or shrimp.  How do you like my frame job?  Have you been to SALT?  What are you doing this weekend?

  1. Not a custom frame? Hobby Lobby? I'm bringing it to work on Monday and you can have it back. ... JK! I love it!
