What a fantastic weekend. As I have mentioned before I went to law school in Chicago and lived there after for about a year and a half. Many of my close friends still live in the city so I usually visit about once a month. My visit last weekend was for two very special reasons: 1) wedding dress shopping for my dear friend Lisa, and 2) seeing the Book of Mormon with my friends Alexa and Jamie. Let's start at the very beginning (a very good place to start per Fraulein Maria).
Jamie and Alexa and I left GB Friday night. Upon my arrival Morgan and I grabbed delicious gelato and hung out at her place. Linds, Lis, Morgs, and I started off Saturday with an early breakfast at Floriole, one of my fave brekfast/lunch places in the city. I knew it was going to be a great day when they presented this:
I know latte art is played but it always impresses me, especially when it involves hearts! Lisa asked us all to stand up in her wedding this summer. Of course we said yes and hugged and cried. It was really sweet and special and I feel very honored. After a nourishing breakfast we proceeded to our first appointment at Mira Couture. From there we went to Dimitra's Bridal, Victoria Sdoukos (okay, "went" is kind of a misnomer, Morgs and I sat in the car and ate a cupcake and looked at pics of her darling niece becuase we thought we were early but actually we missed the appointment, it was fine though) Glamour Closet, and J. Crew. It was a very busy day. Lisa didn't purchase a dress but she looked beautiful in most of them and it was really really fun. After dress shopping Morgan and I picked up sushi (tuna tuna salmon and spicy mono mmm) from one of our favorite sushi places in Chicago, Mirai Sushi and went back to her house. It was a great day.
Sunday we got up, had brunch and went to the Martha Stewart Wedding Show. We should not have eaten first because it was chock-a-block full of delicious samples. I did my best and tasted several chocolates and cakes as well as champagne. And I got to meet one of my personal idols, Darcy Miller, Editorial Director for Martha Steward Weddings. It was very exciting. After the wedding show I stopped at Nordstrom Rack, one of my favorite places to shop when I still lived in Chicago. I found this fantastic Jill Stuart dress:
If you can't tell it's covered in tiny white flowers and ties in the back with an oversized chiffon bow. So so sweet. I may have been influenced by bridal shopping all weekend but I thought it was very pretty. I met up wtih Jamie and Alexa and we went to see the show. It was fantastic! Sam got me into the soundtrack two years ago but it was so much better live. All in all it was a terrific weekend. Now back to real life. Fortunately I have Bach finale tonight and Snack Club. We are doing doubule SC in honor of the three hour finale. How was your weekend? Do you like my dress? Who do you think Sean picks?
