Weekend Love

I often comment that my ideal weekend is a mix of fun, relaxing and productive.  It is surprisingly hard to achieve the perfect balance of these elements but this weekend came pretty close.  Highlights included a lovely dinner at Bleu with friends, a nice run on Sunday followed by an even nicer three hour nap by the fire (wooo happy Super Bowl to me), and best of all my BFF's one-year-old twins' birthday party.
Last weekend Cheryl (BFF) and I had tons of fun making outfits for her kids for the party.  Now that I am no longer in a sorority I do not go to nearly enough theme parties soooo anytime I have a chance to make costumes I jump on it.  When Cher mentioned that she wanted to do a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme for the boys' first birthday I almost immediately suggested that we make custom birthday onesies for the babies and a butterfly tutu for her three-year-old daughter.  The outfits turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.  My friend Jeremy is a graphic design wiz and helped execute my artistic vision for the onesies.  Then Cher and I printed them on iron-on paper and whipped them up in no time.  Here's how they turned out:
Onesie why do I not know how to rotate you?
We also put big #1s on the back.  The tutu turned out great too!  Cher's daughter had a pair of monarch butterfly wings from an old Halloween costume so we made the tutu in monarch colors, orange, brown, gold, and white.  I found a super easy tutorial on pinterest and was able to find the designated 6" tulle at Hobby Lobby (my favorite store in the universe besides Target (wow I have lived in GB too long since I think Nordstrom/Neiman's used to be my fave back in the day)).  The tutorial can be found here and is legitimately super easy.  We used glitter tulle and were covered head to toe in glitter by the time we were finished.  Princess P looked cute as a button in the tutu and it was fun to see the kiddos looking so cute in outfits we made them.
