Chicago Love

Derby hat? |
I lived in Chicago for five years while I was in law school and then when I was working in my first post-grad job. Many of my friends still live there so I end up visiting about once a month. This weekend I went down for a surprise birthday party and a hockey game.
Friday I arrived mid-afternoon and met up with my favorite cousin for ice cream at Bob Tail. I love that place. Even though it was a little chilly I walked there and back and it was really nice to be in a place where people actually walk instead of driving everywhere. Friday night I had champagne and pizza with my sort of newly-engaged friend Lisa and Brooke. Planning a wedding is the funnest thing I can imagine and I can not stop talking about Lisa's wedding. Saturday I had brunch with friends and Linds and I headed to our fave store, Kate Spade. Miraculously I emerged from the store without making any purchases. I did see a hat which I contemplated for the Derby. Thoughts? I'm concerned it's a bit matchy-matchy with the dress I plan to wear discussed here.
After we got home we spent most of the afternoon watching Girls. Alexa told me I would like it and I know it's very popular but I thought it was about hipsters and I do not like hipsters. But I watched it and found it wildly compelling. We watched all of the first season except the last episode and now I am very excited to get caught up! Then we went to a surprise birthday party Saturday night that Brooke threw for Nate's 30th. It was really fun! Sunday we went to the Hockey City Classic at Soldier Field and watched the Badgers beat the Gophers. We tailgated which was cool. I took the train back Sunday night. It was a great weekend and it was nice to see so many people I don't get to see all the time. How was your weekend? Fun?
